Before he was the manager of SWAG, “The Swaggy Blerd” Winston Marshall was a competitor in the teams and Innergeekdom divisions. Here are his reflections on the show that we all love, in his own words.
Looking back on the Schmoedown, what is the most memorable moment that you were personally involved in?
Looking back on the Schmoedown, there are 3 moments, in particular, that stick out to me as memorable. The first was after my recent breakup with Zip, the introduction of Wait, I Know This with Coy and Stacy Howard. Our entrance was lit af AND it served as the first match of the super team known as The Founding Fathers. The second would be handing Roxy that L before the Rogue 2 v The Wicked. Classic. And the third was the only championship I was a part of: when Chandru took down The Smasher to become IG Champion.
What is the most memorable moment that you were not involved in?
The most memorable moment I wasn’t involved in would probably be when Marisol McKee won the belt and became not only the first and only black player to hold the singles belt, but also the first and only woman to hold the singles belt.
Which of your matches would you say is the best you played?
I would say the best match I played was The World’s Finest v Team Trek. Nobody had us winning cause we were still noobs and Trek had wrecked shop on opponents before and we pulled out the W. Also, my epic bend and snap in a Batman onesie.
Which match that didn’t involve you would you say is the best you ever saw?
I feel like every week there was another “greatest match of all time” but I think Marisol v Levine is the greatest match I’ve ever seen. Literally both perfect…Samm just pulled some wizard magic during the Speed Round that took him over the edge.
How would you describe the Schmoedown’s impact on you?
The Schmoedown’s impacted my life in so many ways but mainly through the people. The friends and fans that have become a part of my life can not be stressed enough.
What will you miss most about the Schmoedown?
The jokes, the passion, and the entrances. Nothing was more fun than coming up with insane entrances. Oh and the SWAG theme. Shout out to Matthew Reid.
