Bray Wyatt may be able to join AEW earlier than originally thought. It is believed that he has a non-compete clause in his contract with WWE, which means that he cannot wrestle for another company for 90 days, but it has been leaked that he may be able to opt-out of being paid for those days. So, he could possibly join the AEW team as early as next week in Rochester, New York. This makes sense because Brodie Lee, who passed away earlier this year, was from Rochester and he and Wyatt are good friends. It will be interesting to see if Wyatt will come in and take over the Dark Order, the faction that had been run by Lee, to keep it going for his late friend.
The ratings have been released, and AEW had an almost 1.3 million ratings grab. But WWE had a ratings bump, likely from them hot-shotting matches involving the Bloodline, with Roman Reigns coming over to Raw from Smackdown. They virtually tied in the all-important 18-49 demographic after AEW had beaten them in that key demo the last two weeks. It will be interesting to see what happens from here, especially since WWE took away some key matchups they could have worked up to and AEW is just beginning with all of the new talent they’ve brought in and have saved some big matchups in the bank for future shows.
NXT has started a new brand and changed their graphics into a more colorful scheme, but they have also said they want to be edgier. They are taking a lot of heat this week from a new gimmick that was laid on the table. Joe Gacy was introduced, and he cut a promo about male privilege and the ring being a safe space, and let’s just say that FOX, the network that airs Smackdown, did not like this. A report was made and soon after the prompt had been wiped off everything, even YouTube. This just made me laugh.
In AEW, Chris Jericho wanted to disband the Inner Circle but it was decided that they would keep it together but everyone would have their own storylines. I think that is a creative idea because if you ever need them to help each other or have a big tag match, they are still together for that without getting in each other’s way. You don’t see this very often so I’m curious how it will work out.
