WEEK 8 RECAP
Week 8 Record: 4-1
Overall Record: 21-19
MY BEST PICK
San Francisco 49ers (-1) @ Los Angeles Rams
Final Score: San Francisco 31-14
Well, if it wasn’t clear before then it should be clear now that Kyle Shanahan owns Sean McVay in these matchups. The Rams had an early lead in the game but after a touchdown pass from Jimmy G to McCaffery, the 49ers took off and scored 21 unanswered points in dominant fashion. Christian McCaffery in his 2nd game with the Niners after being traded scored 3 touchdowns one passing, one running, and one receiving. He had 183 total yards on the day. The 49ers have swept the Rams this season by a margin of 55-23. I think this was an easy one to bet considering the history and trend of the rivalry.
MY WORST PICK
New York Giants (+3) @ Seattle Seahawks
Final Score: Seattle 27-13
Finally, the Giants’ luck has run out as they had been coming back in all their games with events that would fall their way to get them the win. Personally, as a Cowboys fan, I loved to see it but as a bettor, it was hard to watch Richie James fumble my perfect 5-0 record away twice. I think the Giants had a little bit of their own medicine with a series of unfortunate events happening against them. The Seahawks’ defense was able to shut down the Giants’ only weapon in Saquon Barkley as he only rushed for 53 yards. Their lack of weapons bit them in the ass this week because they weren’t able to come back with their only weapon being stifled. Geno has been playing great surprisingly and will continue making the Seahawks a good bet going forward.

BIGGEST UPSET OF THE WEEK
Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns (+3.5, ML +146)
Final Score: Cleveland 32-13
It seems the Browns have Joe Burrow’s number. His record is now 0-4 vs. The Browns as the Bengals get upset as road favorites. The Bengals were coming in hot as they had won 4 out of their last 5 games. The Browns’ defense got after Burrow all game sacking him 5 times and forcing a pick. Nick Chubb was able to have a nice day going for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. Amari Cooper showed out as he does in home games. Went for 5 catches 131 yards and a touchdown. The Browns had a 25-0 lead and imposed their will as Brissett was quoted saying. The Bengals were without Jamarr Chase. That loss seemed to really affect this offense in their big play ability. They weren’t able to run the ball as Mixon only had 27 yards. Cleveland kept their season alive with this big upset against their division rival.
LARGEST COVER ATS
Chicago Bears @ Dallas Cowboys (-9.5)
Final Score: Dallas 49-29
For the first time this season, it was an offensive explosion for the Dallas Cowboys. The defense has carried this team for the first 7 weeks. They scored the most points scored by any team this season. Dak scored 3 total touchdowns in this 2nd game back from injury. Tony Pollard was the story of the game running for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns on 14 carries. It seemed the Bears were only interested in running the ball as they got 240 yards on the ground even when they were down big in the game. That has been an issue for this Cowboys defense but this game they were up against terrible refs who wouldn’t throw a flag on all the holding the Bears offensive line was doing. The Cowboys continue their dominance ATS even going back to last year and they are now 6-2 this season which is at the top of the league.
BAD BEAT OF THE WEEK
Carolina Panthers (+4) @ Atlanta Falcons
Final Score: Atlanta 37-34
There is no worst beat than the Panthers took this past Sunday. DJ Moore made the play of the game and could’ve been the play of the season for the Panthers if he didn’t take his helmet off after catching a 62- yard pass from PJ Walker. This seemed to be the game-winning touchdown. He was flagged for taking off his helmet which pushed back the extra point and their kicker proceeds to miss it which put the game into overtime. Then in overtime, the kicker missed a 32-yard game-winning field goal. Mariota and the Falcons went down the field and kicked their own game-winner. This was a heartbreaking loss for the Panthers but at least they covered the 4-point spread by 1.
WEEK 9 BETS
Los Angeles Chargers @ Atlanta Falcons (+3)
The Falcons put up 37 points in their thriller last week against the Panthers. Mariota put 3 touchdowns and seems they got a running game with Huntley and Allgeier. Kyle Pitts has been hit or miss this season but was able to get 5 REC for 80 yards and 1 touchdown. Coming off the bye the Chargers are still really banged up with key players out for the season and others questionable for this game. They have had problems getting Ekler going on the ground. He has only gone over 100 yards once this season. In 5 games this season he has rushed for less than 40 yards as he has been used more in the passing game. Despite the Falcons not covering in back-to-back they still have been great ATS with a record of 6-2.
Miami Dolphins (-5) @ Chicago Bears
Though the Dolphins go down early against the Lions they were able to bounce back and score 31 points. Tua looked really good throwing for 382 yards and 3 touchdowns and no picks. They had 2 receivers go over 100 yards. The Bears got run over in Dallas as the Cowboys put up 49 points and Pollard was able to go for 131. The Dolphins have a lot of weapons just like the Cowboys do so I could see a similar result. The Bears are only interested in running the ball. The Dolphins just held the Lions to just 82 yards rushing. The Bears have not been good ATS as they are 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 games.
Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions (+3.5)
The Lions know how to put up points in most of their games except for two this season. Obviously, their defense is not good at all but they are going up against a struggling Packers offense. Aaron Rodgers is having the worst season of his career as the Packers have lost 4 straight games. They don’t have the receivers needed to put up a lot of points. They have scored under 20 points in 4 games. In their last 10 matchups between these 2 teams, the Lions are 8-2 ATS. Also, Green Bay is just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games.
Seattle Seahawks (+2) @ Arizona Cardinals
I am going to get on the Geno Smith train while it is still on the tracks. The Seahawks just keep on rolling and I don’t see them stopping in Arizona as they are on a 3-game win streak. Geno Smith has been playing great he has been accurate with a 72% completion percentage. He is top 10 in touchdowns and top 5 in touchdowns. Kenneth Walker has been a big piece of their success having a rushing touchdown in every game since he took over. He has contributed to the Seahawks being a top-10 rushing team. The Seahawks can put up a lot of points as they have scored over 30 points in 3 out of their last 5 games. That is bad news for a disappointing Cardinals who has given up 20 points or more in every game except 1. Last week against the Vikings Kyler Murray made too many mistakes that cost them the win most notably throwing a pick in the 4th quarter when they could have taken the lead. The Seahawks are 5-1 ATS and the Cardinals are 1-8 SU in their last 9 home games.
Tennessee Titans (+12.5) @ Kansas City Chiefs
Without Ryan Tannehill, the Titans made the decision that Derrick Henry would have to single-handedly beat the Houston Texans. He did just that rushing 32 times for 219 yards and 2 touchdowns. It is still questionable if Tannehill will play. But either way, they will heavily rely on Henry to win this game. Obviously, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense can put up a lot of points and they probably will here. I think the Titans can keep it close by running the ball and keeping Mahomes off the field and I feel their defense is good enough to prevent the big plays of the Chiefs. I believe the Chiefs will win but the Titans will be able to cover this large spread for a good football team in the Titans. The Titans are 5-2 ATS same as their record and the Chiefs are just 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games.
