The transition to the LGRN – Sports channel in December 2022 is an achievement I am extremely proud of. It was a massive undertaking due to the lack of graphic components we had at the moment. We need to take down all the sports videos from the original channel. But, before we re-uploaded them on the new channel, a decision had to be made. We had to pick a color scheme, overall for the channel and also individual colors for the shows. We morphed the main show, The Highlights, into the name of the channel which helped us streamline that process.
To be quite honest, for Adelia and I, it was pretty easy for us on the creative side of things. We had already created the shows. It took us about two days max to come up with names and colors schemes. Starting Eleven was her baby, the color scheme and the name was all her. I decided to resurrect a name that I thought was going to never show up again in Good Friends, Better Rivals and having a Cowboys fan as a friend helped give the show an edge to it. Funny enough, there is a rivalry with our other football or soccer show (depending on who is reading) with Adelia and Snark being Arsenal and Chelsea fans. The Playoff Beards color scheme and name, I love that one. The blue feels icy and cold like hockey. I believe we hit it out of the park with that one as well.
While it was easy for us to create the names and pick the colors, it was not easy for the engines of the channels, Daney and Alex. Brand new graphics had to be made for us to meet our December deadline. Daney had to make intro and outro videos for the shows. He then had to edit those intro and outros onto one hundred and twenty-eight videos. Which took a lot of time and patience. I believe Daney probably has not forgiven us for that lol. On the graphics component, Alex had to make graphics from scratch that were the basis for the intros that Daney created. Alex also had to make thumbnails for one hundred and twenty-eight videos as well. I am extremely proud of those two gentlemen for doing that work and we made the December deadline.

Between The Lines with DWeezy: NFL Old Boys Club
As we entered the 2024 NFL season, there was one storyline perpetrated across the mainstream media waves more than others, and that was the death of the running back position in the league. This came in the face of a free agency period ripe with some of the top running backs in the NFL. When history looks back on the 2024 free-agent class, they may see fit to label this as one of the greatest position classes of all-time. With the likes of Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley as the headliners, and an undercard filled with superb talent as well, Josh Jacobs, Adam Jones, and Austin Eckler found themselves as free agents this off-season, and all of them signed with new teams. We also saw J.K. Dobbins, Joe Mixon, and Tony Pollard sign with new teams as the projected starter. In an off-season where nearly a third of the starting running back talent from the previous year would be entering free agency, was there another reason for the anti-running back narratives that dominated news cycles? Could it be a more nefarious motive driving these headlines, and if so by whom? The answer to that question could be far simpler than people might expect.

What We’re Watching
A look at what the LGRN crew is watching outside of the stuff we talk about on the channel.
Caleb: The TV series From. Binged the first 3 seasons because I needed to figure out what the hell was going on in this show. It was really creepy and suspenseful, and I was hooked from the start.
Adelia: The Netflix series Heartstopper. It was recommended to me after Joe Locke’s performance in Agatha All Along, and it’s delightful.
Snark: Season 3 of The Traitors UK. The Traitors is a reality show similar to games such as Werewolf or Mafia, but there’s 20+ contestants. 3 people are secretly picked to be traitors. The rest (faithfuls) try to eliminate them at an episode ending roundtable, where they usually eliminate their fellow faithful. Claudia Winkleman hosts and I’m a big fan of hers through British panel shows.
Daney: Season 6 of Malcolm in the Middle. If you wanna understand why Bryan Cranston becomes Walter White… You must watch this show!
DWeezy: ESPN’s Playmakers. A fictional show that follows a pro team and the demons that accompany the glamorous lifestyle of being a pro football player. The show was canceled after pressure from the NFL and had the highest ratings for ESPN next to the Sunday night football and college Saturday broadcasts.
Fares: The Pitt on Max. It is based in the trauma center in Pittsburgh. The episodes are about an hour of one day. We are actually on 11 a.m. of this day, and you see the full scope of what happens in a trauma center. You see death, life, the stretched too thin medical system.
Justin: Auburn basketball. They are number one in the country and their only loss is on the road to Duke, who is also a highly ranked team. It has been interesting because it is not just one player each game that makes them win, it is spread across the team, and they are just fun to watch.
