During his Schmoedown career, “The Tyrant” Ty Lieberman competed in the singles and teams divisions. Drafted by Tom Dagnino in the 2021 Schmoedown draft, he was a member of the Finstock Exchange during Season 8: War and of the Haus of Flouse during Season 9: Reboot. Here are his reflections on the show that we all love, in his own words.
Looking back on the Schmoedown, what is the most memorable moment that you were personally involved in?
Part of the 2021 Finstock Exchange faction comprised of alleged nobodies who shocked the world and won Faction of the Year, and launched Rager, Lomis, Griffin, Kan, Myself, Haas, and Gold Leader to the world.
What is the most memorable moment that you were not involved in?
Bibbs almost going wire-to-wire to win Free-For-All III. [Part 1, Part 2]
Which of your matches would you say is the best you played?
My match with Witney vs. the Next Chapter was when I played the best, but I’m impartial to my 2021 match vs Josh Horowitz, in terms of overall character, humor, and knowledge. Josh and I were a study in contrasts, and I think it played well especially for the digital age.
Which match that didn’t involve you would you say is the best you ever saw?
The 51/50 Star Wars match, Andrew vs Alex. No one could miss. Then we thought Alex had won… but a challenge… a reversal… and the match keeps going. Deep into Sudden Death. And even in the final question, Alex didn’t miss the answer, he was just two seconds too late. The joy in Andrew’s face. Such drama.
How would you describe the Schmoedown’s impact on you?
Wasn’t involved too long, but it did get me to join Twitter which has been its own adventure.
What will you miss most about the Schmoedown?
Bonding with like-minded people, and the thrill of an occasional performance for the camera.
