During her Schmoedown career, “The Boston Badass” Paige Frabetti competed in the singles and teams divisions. Drafted by Samm Levine in the 2021 Schmoedown draft, she was a member of the Usual Suspects during Season 8: War and The Fan Favorites during Season 9: Reboot. Here are her reflections on the show that we all love, in her own words.
Looking back on the Schmoedown, what is the most memorable moment that you were personally involved in?
When I go back and look at my career in the Schmoedown, I’d say my most memorable moment in the show that I was part of was when I played a perfect game in my second match of my rookie season against the wonderful Rachel Silverstini. Listen, this sport takes a lot of time and effort and hard work out of you so having it pay off was a cloud 9 moment for me that I’m still baffled I was able to accomplish.
What is the most memorable moment that you were not involved in?
What I feel as the most memorable moment in Schmoedown history that I was not involved in is of course having the first woman in Marisol McKee winning the singles title belt. It was empowering for all of us women in this league for a woman to finally reign that belt and to prove this isn’t just a men’s game because us women are the league!
Which of your matches would you say is the best you played?
I don’t want to sound too cliché in saying this, but the match I played my best in wasn’t when I played perfect, but when I beat Ben Bateman “singing voice”. Ben is an incredible player so just having the opportunity to play in the same ring as him was an accomplishment. I mean come on you can’t make this stuff up. I literally called the man out in my audition tape so it just made it that much sweeter. This is a tough game from all aspects, but I knew I had it in me, and winning that match cemented me as a player in this league. It proved that I’ve got what it takes to be here.
Which match that didn’t involve you would you say is the best you ever saw?
The 51/50 Star Wars match with Andrew vs Alex. I mean come on that game was incredible no one could miss. They both played an outstanding game and it was nail-biting throughout the entire match. We thought Alex had won, but a challenge was presented and a reversal happen which made the match keep going into several rounds of Sudden Death until Andrew was declared the winner. Man, that match gave me anxiety and I wasn’t even playing!
How would you describe the Schmoedown’s impact on you?
The Schmoedown has impacted me in so many ways and I’m truly honored and grateful that I got to be such a tiny part of it. It has presented me with opportunities I’d never thought I’d get, it was and will always be my saving grace from being a fan to becoming a competitor. But what impacted me most was the people I met from the show. I consider everyone who was part of the schmoedown more than just friends, but family. It was an incredible journey to meet people I watched and looked up to and now consider some of them to be my best friends and for that, I will forever be grateful and lucky to have gotten this opportunity to be in the Movie Trivia Schmoedown.
What will you miss most about the Schmoedown?
I will miss everything about the Schmoedown, but to me, the Schmoedown isn’t just a show or a game it’s people. I’m going to miss the community of the Schmoedown the most and what I’ve gotten out of it meeting and creating relationships with all these amazing competitors, managers, announcers, the behind the scene crew members, and fans. I’m getting teary-eyed just thinking about it, but the Schmoedown will forever be a HUGE part of my life that I will forever carry with me. I mean hey I’ll be on my deathbed shouting out random movie trivia knowledge I got from studying movies for the game.
