Movie Trivia Schmoedown Chairman Kristian Harloff held a digital media press conference today regarding questions about the new Friday Night Titans show.
Jillian Marie from A Certain Point Of View asked about the proposed idea of digital Star Wars matches, which Harloff said was a misconception. He reiterated that he has “no intention of doing digital matches”, saying “what we’re doing right here if you combine that with the clear cut look of what we just presented, it’s just counter-productive”. However, he did note that ideas to bring the digital Star Wars division back have been discussed, but no decisions have been made.
Harloff said that Tim Sim of The Insight’s inquiry about matches being set up on the show as opposed to a monthly match schedule in advance was correct. He also said certain champions may have to defend their title much more frequently, instead of every couple of months like before.
Harloff confirmed the Free For All will happen at the end of April. He also said there will be many more surprises this season, unlike last year where managers confirmed some of their players in advance.
I asked if there were any plans to use the Scum and Villainy Cantina for tapings in the future, to which he responded there were not, but that he possibly might use it to tape episodes of the Big Thing.
Our own Josh Cohen asked about managers being allowed to compete this season. Harloff responded that “anything can happen on Titans”, and that “anybody can play at any given time”.
Skybound’s Head of Digital Content Productions TeriLynn Troxell confirmed they will not stay at the current studio permanently saying “we will have our own studio that will be Skybound and Schmoedown that we will be very comfortable in and will be our home. Thadd [Williams] and I are working on putting that together now and getting it ready for shooting. We’re still going to be at the studio that we are at currently for a little while, but hopefully, very soon we can get into our home studio”.
Harloff said they hope to do celebrity-style matches this season, but that may come later as it will be easier to do in their own studio.
He confirmed the announcer team for Titans will include himself, Mark Ellis, Andrew Ghai, Ken Napzok, Brad Gilmore, Rachel Cushing, and Steph Sabraw. He also said the possibility is open to adding more personalities to the desk throughout the season.
