Today, Movie Trivia Schmoedown Chairman Kristian Harloff released an excerpt from the Schmeodown’s new rulebook pertaining to a new addition to the league for Season 8, time outs. The rule reads as follows:
Time Out Rule:
Each competitor or team is given the opportunity to call 1 “Time Out” during a match for any reason.
Time Outs will last 30 seconds and during this time all competitors and teams will be permitted to confer with their manager.
If a competitor or team wishes to speak with their manager about a potential Challenge, whether or not a Challenge is officially issued afterwards, that is considered part of the official Challenge process, and not an official Time Out.
Time Outs may only be called in between questions. They cannot be used to extend the amount of time a competitor may have to answer a question, and managers cannot confer with their competitors during a question. Any attempt to call a Time Out in the middle of a question will result in an Official Warning.
Unlike JTE Rules and Challenges, official Time Outs do not replenish for any competitor if a game proceeds into Sudden Death. Any remaining Time Outs a competitor or team has cannot be used once the Sudden Death round has commenced.

Personally, I think that this rule makes a lot of sense. Time outs will be figured into people’s strategy now and I cannot wait to see how players use them to perhaps disrupt someone’s momentum or stop proceedings to get time to gather themselves in the middle of a poor run of questions.
