Often among more seasoned sports bettors will refer to Parlays as sucker bets. There is a certain allure to the common recreational bettor of betting a little to win a lot. The problem is when the odds are heavily skewed in favor of the house that comes with taking on more and more risk each time you add a team to your parlay. A parlay is when you bet on two or more teams on a single wager. All teams on that single ticket you have bet on must win in order to have a payout. You can have a combination of bets such as betting on a team against the spread, betting another on the money line, and betting the over/under on the total score. Any type of bet that you can make normally you can add to your parlay. Though I do know the odds of Parlays what other people say about them, they still are my favorite bets to make. Here in Las Vegas, they offer Parlay cards for each week of the NFL and college football games which have both points spreads and point totals. I have filled out these cards before I was even legal to make a bet and my dad would turn in mine for me. Mostly, I do these for fun because I don’t have a ton of money to bet single games to gain any sort of meaningful profit but I can put down a few bucks to win a couple hundred depending on how many teams I put on my card. I usually win at least a few times a year which gets me to break even or turn a profit by the end of the NFL season.
Los Angeles Chargers –1 @ Washington Football Team
I am taking the Chargers on the road this week because I believe they are a much better football team than Washington with a much better quarterback. Even with the +3 points home teams get with home-field advantage Washington is still the underdog. The Chargers do really well against the NFC East as they are 12-2-1 ATS when playing that division. They are also 4-1 in their last 5 games ATS. This is one of my more confident picks of the week because I have little faith and in Fitzmagic.
Seattle Seahawks –2.5 @ Indianapolis Colts
Whether Carson Wentz starts on Sunday or not he won’t be 100% and even he was I wouldn’t mean much he is not a very good quarterback anyway. Russell Wilson is clearly the better quarterback and will be able to overcome just a 2.5 point spread even on the road.
Minnesota Vikings @ Cincinnati Bengals +3
I always love a good home underdog it’s one of my favorite bets to make and in this case, I really like the 3 points the Bengals are getting here at home against Vikings who I don’t believe are very good. The Vikings are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games. I think Joe Burrow will be ready in his first game back to come out with the home victory.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons –3
There is no way the Eagles have the talent to go on the road to Atlanta to come out with the win. I will gladly lay the 3 points as I think the Falcons have a lot of weapons to put it on the Eagles. The Eagles don’t seem to be well-coached as Nick Sirianni looks like he has no idea what he’s doing especially in press conferences and doesn’t seem to be ready for this week one match up.
Baltimore Ravens @ Las Vegas Raiders +4.5
This will be my most out on a limb pick of the week but I will take the upset in Las Vegas. I go back to how the Vegas Golden Knights had such a home advantage in their first year and this will be the first game in the Raiders’ new stadium with fans on Monday Night Football. I think the crowd will be rocking and Vegas will represent. Raiders have everything they need to come up with the upset.
