A hot start to the season for the Dallas Cowboys was cooled off by key injuries that made a major impact on the trajectory of the season. Dak was looking like an MVP as the Cowboys went on 5 game win streak then he suffered a lower leg injury that hindered his play. All season he was more tentative to take off and run because he was coming off his broken ankle. Similarly, Zeke was looking like his old self for the first few weeks of the season then he also suffered an injury which he played through for the rest of the season and did not look the same. Despite that, the Cowboys were the number 1 scoring offense and total yards in the NFL. They had a 1000-yard RB and WR with the QB throwing for 4000 yards. They also broke the record for the most players in a season to score a touchdown. The Cowboys are 7th in Scoring Defense and number 1 in turnovers. They replaced the players in the trenches in Gregory and Williams with arguably better players as Gregory wasn’t available in his time with the Cowboys and Williams had no strength and was getting pushed back on every play. Micah Parson will be even better with a 2nd year in Dan Quinn’s system. Dak Prescott is more confident not coming off an injury. Zeke is fully healthy and I feel they will have a top defense in the league. They Should be able to rely on the defense to carry the offense for the first few games until Michael Gallop gets back and they are fully healthy.

One of the surprises of the 2021 season was the Philadelphia Eagles’ winning record and making the playoffs as I thought like many others that they would have a bad season because you didn’t know what you were getting from the quarterback position or at head coach. Head Coach Nick Sirianni proved to be a competent coach as he ran the offense to fit the strengths of his quarterback which was his running ability and ran the ball the majority of the time. I still have many questions about Jalen Hurts’ throwing ability as he did not impress me at all and do not think he is a very good quarterback. Their offense was 25th ranked passing offense with a 61% completion percentage and Hurts was the leading rusher for the team. For a team that relies so heavily on their run game their starting running back Miles Sanders has never hit 1000 yards in his career and had a career-low last season with 0 touchdowns. I am still not sold on Sirianni they were 5-7 through 12 games of the season then went on a 4-game win streak which got them in the playoffs. The streak was against the NFC East which was the Giants and Washington twice and the Jets. Their playoff appearance was just about luck, timing, and scheduling. I don’t think they are actually a good team. I think they are more of the losing team that won just 5 out of the first 12 games of the season.

The major issues of the Washington Commanders 2021 season came from the quarterback position. They thought they were going to have Ryan Fitzpatrick for the duration of the season but he got injured for the entire season in the first game which led to Taylor Heinicke taking over. They made a mistake by going with Fitzpatrick in the first place but having Taylor Heinicke as your quarterback would not lead to a winning season. They hope to rectify that by bringing in Carson Wentz for this season who did lead the Eagles to 3 straight playoff appearances though he did not actually show up in those playoff games, but that is not what we are betting, we are focused on just the regular season. He has shown to make good plays but the dumb mistakes that he makes through the course of the season were the reason the Colts didn’t make the playoffs. But he has shown to be a very capable winning quarterback at least in the regular season. 2019 is a good example of that as the Eagles had no receivers and relied on tight ends and still won the division. With the help of scary Terry and Jahan Dotson along with a very solid run game with Antonio Gibson leading the charge, Carson Wentz should be able to get a winning season. Washington’s defense carried this team in 2020 to winning the division if they can get back to form with a better offense the defense should be better.

Just like any other team that doesn’t have the right quarterback the team does not have much hope going into a season. The New York Giants will not be going to be able to do anything with Daniel Jones as their quarterback. Last season their offense was a complete disaster as they were ranked 31st in the league. It was not all him there were other disasters on the team including their head coach Joe Judge and their offensive line not being able to block anybody. But they are working out those problems by bringing in Brian Daboll and drafting a high 1st round pick in Evan Neal, the Giants are building the foundation for this rebuild. Unfortunately, it will take longer than a year. I feel they preparing for next year’s draft which will be a much better crop of quarterbacks to choose from. They also brought in Tyrod Taylor as the backup knowing that Daniel Jones will probably fail and therefore Tyrod will be starting some games. On defense, their problems come from stopping the game as they are 25th in rushing defense. Their top receiver Kenny Golladay seems like a bust free agent due to his lack of production. Their starting running back Saquan Barkley cannot stay healthy for a full season. These are major problems that I don’t feel they will be overcome this season which is why I do not see them winning very many games.
