Well, one of the things that happened at Spectacular that I feel is going a little under the radar is what is happening with Finstock and the Finstock Exchange.
Look, I understand if Finstock feels like a rejuvenated Rocha could be a leader for your faction for the next year, but when he says that his reasoning behind that is that the others are losers, it just doesn’t make any sense. Dan Murrell went 4-1, Mark Reilly went 3-1, the Barbarian went 2-1 in singles and then 2-1 in Innergeekdom as well, all of which are better records than the Outlaw had in 2020. You can even make a case that Andrew Dimalanta made a bigger impact for the Exchange this year.
Making your decision based on the faith you have in a player is one thing, but to make the statement you’re doing it because the others are losers is another. There is the argument that Rocha may not have even been the fourth best on his team this year.
The Finstock Exchange came into the year as the clear favorite only to have it start to slip away from the very beginning. Who is manager of who, not knowing who should be in certain tournaments, and let’s not forget about the whole Rocha debacle at the draft. Finstock better put things together fast or all of the greatness he has shown in the past will all be forgotten. It’s been a great fall from being the possible manager of the year in the preseason all the way down to possibly the biggest disappointment of the year.
How does he fix this? Can he?
The answer is yes, he can. Simply put, you find a way to keep the Barbarian and you keep Andrew Dimalanta because of the chance for him to win you a belt for your faction next year. That gives you a good foundation and I feel like both of them will not get in the way of certain egos. Then he has to show what he can do in next year’s draft. Can he find another Barbarian there or did he just get lucky?
Is Finstock the guy who rode on others coattails or is he truly the mastermind? I personally feel he is a mastermind, a genius behind the curtain, but with every passing day, my faith in that slowly erodes away.
