Match Report: Shazam (8-1, 2KO, The Quirky Mercs) vs The Odd Couple (9-4, 4KO, Roxstars)

Shazam is made up of Brendan “The Kid” Meyer and William “The Beast” Bibbiani. They entered the match with a record of 8-1 with two knockouts. Meyer had a career teams accuracy of 87.91%. Bibbiani had a career teams accuracy of 88.89%. This was their second championship match and their first title defense. They represented the Quirky Mercs.

The Odd Couple is made up of Marc “The Android” Andreyko and “The Insneider” Jeff Sneider. They entered the match with a record of 9-4 with four knockouts. Andreyko had a career teams accuracy of 78.08%. Sneider had a career teams accuracy of 78.14%. This was their third championship match. They represented the Roxstars.

First Round

Bibbiani had a perfect round and hit the bonus question. Meyer missed one question. Shazam earned 16 of 17 possible points.

Andreyko missed one question and Sneider missed two. The Odd Couple earned 13 of 16 points.

The score at the end of the first round was 16-13 for Shazam.

Second Round

Shazam deferred to The Odd Couple. The Odd Couple spun Oscars, decided to spin again, and ended up with Ron Howard. They got all six questions right and earned 12 out of 12 possible points.

Shazam spun Coming of Age films first, decided to spin again, and ended up with Jim Henson films. Shazam went to multiple choice on one question and missed it, got all other questions correct, and earned 10 of 12 possible points.

The Odd Couple stole Shazam’s miss for 1 point.

The missed question was:

The score at the end of the second round was 26-26.

Third Round

Shazam spun Jim Henson for the category in the betting round. Shazam bet three points, got it correct, and earned three points. The Odd Couple bet one point, got it correct, and earned one point.

The score at the end of the third round was 29-27 to Shazam.

Fourth Round

Shazam decided to go first. Meyer took the first five, Bibbiani the second. Meyer got all questions correct but answered the last question after time had run out, so he earned four out of five points. Bibbiani answered four questions correctly, passed on one, and earned four of five points. Collectively, Shazam won eight of ten points.

For The Odd Couple, Sneider took the first five questions, Andreyko the second. Sneider answered one question correctly, passed on three, and didn’t answer the last one, earning one of five points. Andreyko answer three questions correctly, passed on two, and earned three of five points.

A challenge occurred because Sneider said he did not hear his second question. He was given a new question and passed on it. The Odd Couple earned four of possible ten points.

At the end of the fourth round, the score was 37-31 for Shazam.

Fifth Round

The Odd Couple went first to avoid the TKO. Andreyko took the two-point question in the category of Dance and got it correct. Sneider took the three-point question in the category of 80s and got it correct. Their five-point question was in the category of Family Films, and they answered it correctly.

Meyer took Shazam’s two-point question in the category of Crime and answered incorrectly. Bibbiani took the three-point question in the category of Brad Pitt and answered correctly. Their five-point question was in the category of Tom Cruise and they missed. The missed questions were:

The Odd Couple won the match by a final score of 41-40.

Other Details

Shazam overall answered 31 of 37 questions asked to them for an accuracy of 83.78%. Bibbiani answered 21 of 23 questions asked to him for an accuracy of 91.30%. Meyer answered 17 of 22 questions asked to him for an accuracy of 77.27%. Their record is now 8-2. It is unknown when their next match will be.

Including steal opportunities, The Odd Couple overall answered 28 of 37 questions asked to them for an accuracy of 75.68%. Andreyko answered 21 of 23 questions for an accuracy of 91.30%. Sneider answered 17 of 23 questions for an accuracy of 73.91%. Their record is now 10-4. The Roxstars earned 5 points and moved up to third place with 51 points, overtaking The Finstock Exchange. It is unknown when their next match will be.

This is the second time that The Odd Couple have won the teams’ title. The first was in May 2019 when they defeated the Shirewolves.
