So LGRN, why are you starting a newsletter?
That’s a very good question. Why are we starting this newsletter? Well, it’s something that we’ve talked about doing for a long time. We understand that for lots of you, YouTube notifications are broken. You’re not being informed when we upload a new video or go live, and we’ve been looking at new ways to spread the word about what we’re doing here at LGRN.
So why a newsletter? It’s a way to deliver what we’re up to straight to your inbox every Sunday. We’ll recap what LGRN has posted throughout the week, share some behind the scenes insight into our process and decision making, and let you know what’s on the schedule for the upcoming week. Plus we’ll share some blasts from the past when we look back at LGRN history, profile the members of the crew, answer some of your burning questions in monthly Q&As, and more.
So thanks for signing up! We appreciate it, just as we have always appreciated everyone’s love and support. We are still blown away that people like you choose to spend some of your time with us, whether by watching our videos or hanging out with us in our Discord. (By the way, if you’re not in our Discord already, it’s open to the public now, so click that link to join us!) We hope that you enjoy this first issue, and we’ll talk again next week!

Between The Lines with DWeezy: This is the Big One, Elizabeth!
Once again, we find ourselves at that special time of year filled with disavowed New Year’s resolutions, standing in the face of the encroaching culmination of Super Bowl LIX, and where is this year’s “Big Game” being held? That’s right: in the heart of Cajun country, New Orleans, Louisiana. The home of Creole, beignets, and the NFL’s own Saints. This year will mark a historic achievement for the city of New Orleans as it will be the 11th time hosting the Super Bowl, tying the only other city in the country to have hosted the Super Bowl ten times or more, Miami. This historic notch in the belt left this writer wondering, does the NFL even attempt to hide their bias at all in selecting a host for the biggest game of the year? The answer to that is a whopping no.
For years, it has been the stance of the commissioner’s office and the commissioner himself that a number of factors go into the process of selecting a host. While there is a great deal of sensibility to some of the factors listed in this selection process, there are a few that are downright asinine, and insulting to fanbases. For decades, it has been known that were a few nasty little truths that would instantly eliminate a stadium and fanbase from receiving the opportunity to host the Super Bowl. No cold weather stadiums, a glaring fact reflected by previous host cities. A hurdle often too great even for a city like the Big Apple, the lone Super Bowl to be played in New York (East Rutherford, NJ) coming in 2014, and a state that three NFL teams technically call home. This would be the only time a Super Bowl would be played in an open-air stadium in a cold weather state, with the only other trips up north for the Super Bowl being in domed stadiums in Detroit and Minneapolis.

Getting to Know…Fares Muthana
This week, we had Daney Carvalho ask Fares Muthana five questions to get to know him better.
Daney: What inspired you to work with Communications?
Fares: I would watch this program called NFL films. The production of their videos and storytelling was gripping. They would set the stage with voiceovers and music.
Daney: What makes LGRN different from other channels in your opinion?
Fares: We try stuff out, someone has a solid idea, we say fuck it lets do it.
Daney: What drives you?
Fares: I don’t want to be a lost in the annals of time. I want my life to matter, because heroes get remembered but legends never die.
Daney: What is the most memorable moment of your life so far?
Fares: I finally left California (twice) and I graduated with a major degree and 2 minors, being the first person in my family to graduate college.
Daney: What is the biggest accomplishment you did at LGRN?
Fares: The sports transition was a massive dub for us.
